MOVEMENT THAT ELEVATES

Elevé is a Ballet term that simply means movement. More specifically, the action of lifting onto a dancer’s toes. An elevé is the foundation to many important dance movements, ranging from pirouettes to adagio. Without the fundamental base of an elevé, more advanced steps would be impossible. This is why it is practiced in class after class; building strength and stability in the feet and legs.

Just as an elevé is the foundation for countless movements in Ballet, Elevé Arts Academy strives to be the place where dancers receive an uplifting educational foundation in dance. Unlike many other studios, we not only want our dancers to be technically accomplished but also to be trained creatively. Elevé Arts Academy encourages dancers to find their dance “voice“ and use it as a tool to uplift others.

Because our focus is giving our dancers an uplifting experience, you can expect:

  • Striving for excellence over perfection

  • Teaching dancers how to face challenges positively

  • Modesty in movement, classroom attire, and costuming

  • Age appropriate concepts, choreography, and music

  • Encouraging education from top quality teachers

UNIQUE TO ELEVE ACADEMY

While you could find good dance classes in many other locations, Elevé Arts Academy celebrates several unique qualities that you will not see at other studios.

Elevé Arts Academy is home to an innovative Ballet Contemporary Curriculum that combines the technique, precision, and placement of Ballet with the articulation, fluidity, and groundedness of Contemporary. Dancers will go through the traditional Ballet class structure while integrating Contemporary concepts. End of year recital pieces will showcase choreography that celebrates what dancers have learned, in both genres.

Each dancer will be given a rubric in which to track their skill achievement through the year. Parent Teacher conferences will be periodically available for parents who would like to assess their child’s work and discuss how to further their child’s dance education.

INNOVATIVE BALLET CONTEMPORARY CURRICULUM

DEVELOPING ATHLETES AND ARTISTS

We believe that a dancer’s education is not just technical training. It should also include creative work. Dancers in all classes will be given the opportunity to develop this skill with regular improvisation and composition exercises based in the Elements of Dance: Body, Energy, Space, and Time.

The Young Children’s classes will all be built around developing their creative thinking skills; through fun and engaging movement prompts. As dancers progress into Ballet Contemporary technique classes, they will also have a class each month where time is set aside to work on these skills.

End of year recital pieces will also include a portion of the choreography created by the dancers!

SHARING FAITH THROUGH MOVEMENT

At Elevé Arts Academy, we teach our Faith Based class dancers that their bodies are a gift, uniquely designed by a divine creator. While dance is not a common way to learn and share faith, it is a powerful one; combining the convictions of the spirit with the expression of the body. Classes are based off of non-denominational Christian beliefs found in the Bible with the goal that dancers will gain a better understanding and relationship with Jesus Christ. Dancers from all Christian denominations are welcome.

Faith Based classes will use music from Christian artists and other uplifting sources for the end of year recital choreography. Choreography will also be based off of religious themes.
