DANCE CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

  • Ages 18-36 Months

    Toddler Time is for your little one that can't sit still when there is music playing. The class is structured to help progress your toddler's physical, cognitive, verbal and social-emotional development with movement. You and your little one will explore basic dance concepts through stories, music, games, props, and obstacle course activities.

  • Ages 3 - 5, Grades Kinder - 2nd

    Creative Movement provides an exciting first solo dance opportunity for your little dancer. Classes will consist of basic dance skills incorporated with developmental concepts for this age group, including gross and fine motor skills, verbalizing ideas, and learning how to interact in a classroom setting.

  • Ages 3 - 5

    Faith Based Creative Movement is a dance fundamentals class centered around Christian beliefs. Dancers will learn stories and concepts from the Bible while learning how to express their faith and celebrate Christ through their movement. Christian and fun children's music will be used in this class.

  • Ages 3 - 5, Kinder-2nd, 3rd-4th

    Boys Creative Movement is a dance class made for just the boys. We will explore fundamental dance skills through concepts that many boys are interested in; trucks, dinosaurs, animals, and more! We will also work on basic tumbling and break dancing skills while trying to work out the extra energy from your active little man.

  • Ages 4 - 5

    Little Ballerina is for those dancers who are ready to take the next step in their dance training beyond a Creative Movement class. While taking a dance class previously is encouraged, it is not required. In this class, littles will learn the fundamentals of Ballet technique and vocabulary in a fun and interactive way. Dancers will also get the time in class to move creatively.

  • Ages 3 - 5

    Hip Hop dance is an energetic and expressive street dance style that emerged in the 1970s. It has a series of bounces and rocks performed to the beats of Hip Hop music. In our Hip Hop workshop it’s a beautiful way for kids to combine exercise, creativity, and fun while developing coordination, confidence and a love for movement and music! As it is for all Elevé classes, movement and music for this class will be age appropriate and family friendly.

  • Ages 3 - 5

    Dance Preschool is made for the kinesthetic learner that may be struggling in a traditional preschool setting. In this class, dancers will learn preschool subjects like letters, numbers, shapes, and color through movement. We will use stories, games, and art to help your little mover solidify fundament educational concepts and prepare them for their future school experiences. Each class will also spend 10-15 minutes working on fine motor skills such as writing, building, cutting, etc..

  • Acro is a version of tumbling taught with the goal of incorporating the tricks into dance choreography. Acro dancers learn traditional tumbling skills, while working on their flexibility, building strength, and developing overall coordination. Skills taught will include: bridges, forward and back rolls, walkovers, chin stands, cartwheels, handstands, headstands, and more. All skills are taught in trick families (skills that are scaffolded on each other; i.e. shoulder bridge - bridge - one legged bridge - back bend - etc.), so students needing to move faster than their peers will always be challenged to take it to the next level.

    Please Note: Acro classes are not included in the end of year recital. This class will have their own in-class showcase at the end of each semester.

    In order to participate in the Intermediate Acro class, dancers must have the following skills: bridge from standing, cartwheel, handstand and working towards back or front walk overs, head stands, and chin stands. This class will be developing on those skills with variations. We will not go over how to do the skills so an understanding of how to execute them is vital.

    Please Note: Acro classes are not included in the end of year recital. This class will have their own in-class showcase at the end of each semester.

  • Grades Kinder - 2nd, Grades 3rd - 6th

    Do you have a child with a flair for the dramatic? Musical Theater may be the class for them to show off their fabulous expressions! In this class, students will be trained as a triple threat in dance, acting, and vocal performance. Dancers will also work on Musical Theater Jazz technique to help them develop the razzle dazzle needed for Broadway.

  • Creative Movement dancers will be taught about the Elements of Dance; Body, Energy, Space, and Time. More importantly, dancers will implement how each of these elements creates movement. As the class progresses, dancers will work on improvisational movement and learn how to create their own movement choreography.

  • Grades Kinder - 2nd

  • Kinder

    Pre-Ballet Contemporary is your dancer's first glimpse into the beautiful fusion of Ballet and Contemporary. Dancers will spend time learning fundamental barre, center, and across the floor concepts in an interactive and engaging way. By the end of the year, dancers will learn important vocabulary, alignment, discipline, and coordination to prepare themselves for continuing classes in Ballet Contemporary

  • Grades Kinder - 2nd, 3rd - 6th

    Elevé's Ballet Contemporary fusion class but for dancers who are homeschooled! Get your dance training in during the day!

    Ballet Contemporary combines the technique, precision, and placement of Ballet with the articulation, fluidity, and groundedness of Contemporary. Dancers will go through the traditional Ballet class structure while integrating Contemporary concepts; for example, a plié exercise that also explores contracting through the spine. Both classical Ballet and Contemporary style music will be used in this class as a way to promote better understanding movement and musicality. At least once a month, dancers will also participate in a composition/improvisation exercise that helps them to train not only their technique, but also their creative abilities and dance voice.

  • Grades 1st - 2nd, 3rd - 6th, 7th - 12th

    Ballet Contemporary combines the technique, precision, and placement of Ballet with the articulation, fluidity, and groundedness of Contemporary.   • Levels 1 - 5

    Eleve's Ballet technique classes contain all the traditional elements of a Ballet class; barre, center, and across the floor. Each of these elements will be taught through Eleve's tested and tried Ballet curriculum based on the needs of that level. In addition to the vocabulary and technique of traditional Ballet, dancers will be trained to develop discipline, strength, agility, flexibility, musicality, and artistry. At least once a month, dancers will also participate in a composition/improvisation exercise that helps them to train not only their technique, but also their creative abilities and dance voice.

    PLEASE NOTE: Dancers in Level 1 are required to take a Ballet class. After that requirement, they may take a leveled Contemporary or Jazz class. Dancers in Levels 2 - 5 are required to take two days of technique class per week. One of those classes must be a Ballet class while the other can be Contemporary, Jazz, or an additional Ballet class. Acro and recreational classes do not count towards the requirement. They are, however, great classes to add on.

  • Levels 2 - 4

    Is your ballerina looking forward to wearing pointe shoes? This class specifically targets the muscles, joints, and skills that will be needed for pointe work. In addition to being at least 12 years old, students hoping to go on pointe must be enrolled in a pre-pointe class for at least one year before being selected to go en pointe. Other requirements are available on request.

    PLEASE NOTE: Pre-Pointe is meant to be taken in addition to a Ballet technique class on the same night. This class does not count towards the two technique class requirement for Levels 2 - 4.

  • Levels 1 - 5

    Contemporary dance is a melding together of many different dance genres, including Ballet, Jazz, and Modern. Dancers in this class will be lead through Contemporary technique concepts like ground work, fall and recovery, inversion, and contraction. Class will also consist of regular composition and improvisation work as well as technique building exercises to develop industry standard movements of turns, leaps, and kicks.

    PLEASE NOTE: Dancers in Level 1 are required to take a Ballet class. After that requirement, they may take a leveled Contemporary or Jazz class. Dancers in Levels 2 - 5 are required to take two days of technique class per week. One of those classes must be a Ballet class while the other can be Contemporary, Jazz, or an additional Ballet class. Acro and recreational classes do not count towards the requirement. They are, however, great classes to add on.

  • Levels 1 - 5

    This upbeat class teaches traditional Jazz techniques of isolation, contraction, and percussiveness. In addition, dancers will work on musicality, theatricality, and expressiveness as they learn a variety of kicks, turns, and leaps!

    PLEASE NOTE: Dancers in Level 1 are required to take a Ballet class. After that requirement, they may take a leveled Contemporary or Jazz class. Dancers in Levels 2 - 5 are required to take two days of technique class per week. One of those classes must be a Ballet class while the other can be Contemporary, Jazz, or an additional Ballet class. Acro and recreational classes do not count towards the requirement. They are, however, great classes to add on.

  • Adults need their time to dance, too! Join us for one of our adult class options! Drop ins are welcome! $10 per class for Contemporary and Tap or $12 for Ballet. You can also register for a month or full session for a slight discount.

    Contemporary - every Tuesday night from 8:15pm - 9:15pm

    Contemporary dance is a melding together of many different dance genres, including Ballet, Jazz, and Modern.     Tap - every 1st, 3rd, and 5th Wednesday from 8:00pm - 9:00pm

    This class is meant for the beginning to intermediate tap dancer. Learn from scratch or resurrect your skills with basic tap steps and techniques. Conquer combinations and full song choreography. Experience the pure joy of making rhythm with your feet, while creating as a group and enjoying some fantastic exercise. Tap shoes required. (Either flats or heels are great)

    Beginning/Intermediate Ballet - every Thursday from 8:15 - 9:30

    Adults need their time to dance, too! All skill levels are welcome to join this class that will explore the beauty of Ballet technique. While some experience in Ballet technique and vocabulary is recommended, combinations will be created so that students willing to take a challenge can pick up the movement. Join us at the barre, moving through a large space, and enjoy the elegance and grandeur that is Ballet. Please wear whatever you feel most comfortable dancing in; the traditional ballet uniform of tights and leotards is not required. Ballet shoes are strongly encouraged.

Elevé is pleased to present our new offerings of music and vocal training classes. Each of these classes teaches music fundamentals and vocal performance in a group setting. These classes are great for kids looking to learn more about music as well as those pursuing musical theater. Like Elevé’s dance classes, our new music classes are based in technical training, while encouraging creative skills in an encouraging and positive environment.

  • Little Maestros music class combines the best of various teaching methods, such as Kodály and Dalcroze, to foster a deep love for music in our little learners. Through engaging singing games and folk songs, children will explore pitch, rhythm, and melodic patterns. Movement and music come together in these dynamic approaches, helping children develop a keen sense of rhythm and coordination while beginning a foundation of music literacy. Students will showcase what they have learned in a recital performance. Details coming soon!

  • Vocal Explorers will incorporate much of what Little Maestros has to offer, with an added focus on basics of healthy singing. Kodály hand signs and solfège syllables will be used to build a strong foundation in music literacy and ear training. We will also use basic percussion instruments that enhance the students’ ability to improvise and train musical coordination. Students will showcase what they have learned in a recital performance. Details coming soon!

  • Soulful Sounds will incorporate much of what Vocal Explorers has to offer, with an added focus on basics of healthy singing. Kodály hand signs and solfège syllables will be used to build a strong foundation in music literacy and ear training. We will also use basic percussion instruments that enhance the students’ ability to improvise and train musical coordination. Students will showcase what they have learned in a recital performance. Details coming soon!

  • Choral Voices is an upbeat choir class designed to nurture the vocal talents of young singers, enhance their musical skills, and foster a sense of community through collaborative music-making. The fundamentals of healthy singing will be taught through engaging vocal exercises and various repertoire. Our choir class incorporates elements of music theory and sight-singing, helping students to read musical notation and understand rhythm, melody, and harmony. Students will showcase what they have learned in a recital performance.   • Homeschool Songbirds, for 4th - 7th graders, is an upbeat choir class designed to nurture the vocal talents of young singers, enhance their musical skills, and foster a sense of community through collaborative music-making. The fundamentals of healthy singing will be taught through engaging vocal exercises and various repertoire. Our choir class incorporates elements of music theory and sight-singing, helping students to read musical notation and understand rhythm, melody, and harmony. Students will showcase what they have learned in a recital performance.   • Harmony Singers is an energetic choir class for pre-teens of all vocal abilities. Students will learn vocal techniques, including breath control, pitch accuracy, vocal resonance, and dynamic expression. Students will be guided on maintaining vocal health, adapting to voice shifts, and building resilience through this transitional period for their voices. They will learn to blend their voices and work together to create a beautiful, cohesive sound. This class will also incorporate elements of music theory and sight-singing. Students will showcase what they have learned in a recital performance. Details coming soon!

  • Overtones is an energetic choir class for young teens of all vocal abilities. Students will learn vocal techniques, including breath control, pitch accuracy, vocal resonance, and dynamic expression. Students will be guided on maintaining vocal health, adapting to voice shifts, and building resilience through this transitional period for their voices. They will learn to blend their voices and work together to create a beautiful, cohesive sound.
