STUDIO ATTIRE POLICIES

At Elevé Arts Academy, we believe that when a dancer comes dressed to learn, they will have more success in their training. Following the dress code ensures that instructors can properly see dancer's alignment and technique. Dancers that do not adhere to the dress code may be asked to observe class instead of dancing. Below you will find specific needs for each class. Please be sure to also adhere to the following expectations:

  • Hair must all be pulled back off of face. Ponytails for all young children’s classes and a bun for any Pre-Ballet, Ballet Contemporary, or Ballet classes. Please pin back bangs if they are long enough to fall in the eyes when moving.

  • Modest and well-fitting dance attire helps dancers to move freely. Stomachs must be covered at all times and shorts must be to mid-thigh.

  • When the weather is cold, dancers may wear close fitting, warm clothing to start class.

  • Underwear should not be worn underneath tights and a leotard. The tights serve that purpose.

  • If needed, supportive sports bras may be worn underneath a leotard. However, straps must be hidden under leotard straps.

  • Dance shoes should not be worn outside the studio. Please wear street shoes to and from the studio.

  • We recommend getting Ballet slippers with no drawstring as it can be bothersome to young dancers. If you are using a shoe with a drawstring, it should be tied and placed inside shoe.

  • All dancers are expected to maintain good hygiene by washing themselves and their dance clothing regularly.

  • Keep necklaces, bracelets, and other dangling jewelry at home so it is not a distraction. Small earrings are allowed.

  • Cellphones, watches, or other distracting electronics should be kept in the dance bag during class, even during water breaks.

  • All dance bag contents should be labeled. If things are lost, you can find them in the studio lost and found.
